Realtek GBE Family Controller Do I Need It?

  • 0

After a recent mothercard breakdown, a new mothercard and graphics card were installed – dxdiag extract below. I lost access to data on the old HDs.

With this, and subsequent updates/reinstallations, appeared Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller. I have a single PC. No others in the house. Do I need this Realtek software or can I bin it?

Operating System: Windows XP Professional (5.1, Build 2600) Service Pack 3 (2600.xpsp_sp3_gdr.101209-1647)

Memory: 2046MB RAM

  1. If you never have any intention of connecting this computer to a network then you don’t need it. If you do intend connecting to a network, and that includes the Internet, then you do need it.
