If it is going to install from a windows 7 install or upgrade disk, You will need to make sure that your DVD drive is first in boot order in your BIOS. Then put in your Windows 7 disk and restart the computer to see if it boots to the DVD. If it does, select the ‘FULL FORMAT’ option – It may take 2 hours or more, BUT if it works, your full hard drive maybe saved. If it does not, Then like above, Call HP Support and be prepared to spend some time with them.
Option 2: If you Absolutely need the computer nearly Immediately, go out and buy a new hard drive ($40.00 to $50.00) and an EOM version of Windows 7 Home Premium (assuming you have an upgrade version now) (about $109.00) and start from scratch. [EOM version is only good for installing on a completely new drive or one you are willing to format, but it is only about the price of an upgrade version and purchasing a hard drive qualifies you to purchase an OEM as per microsoft] As soon as you are loaded, update from windows update, and if you need drivers for motherboard or video, go to HP site or individual manufacturer’s sites, Then install virus software, and your programs.
Good luck.
