No Sound When Watching Movies on TV via USB

I have downloaded movies on my laptop but when I transfer them to a USB to watch on my TV some play fine but others have no sound. The picture is fine. How can I get the sound to work on all movies? Thanks.

      When you play the movie files on the HDD, do they play picture and sound together ?

      The movie may comprize two files or more and you transfer only the picture file to the USB device, not the sound file. Or you transfer picture and sound file to the USB device but not the file that connects picture file to sound to play both.
