I’ve just had to get a new computer, which unfortunately came with Windows Home 7 Premium instead of my old, familiar XP. Yesterday, I used my Adobe Photoshop CS (8.0) for the first time. I left it open in the background as I worked on writing a how-to manual for a client, as I needed to manipulate screen shots as I demonstrated a process. Photoshop CS stopped working.
I can open it, but when I click on “File” in the menu bar, everything greys out and it says “not responding”.
I re-booted my computer. Still unable to use CS.
No problem, sez I: I’ll uninstall and re-install it. Unfortunately, when I try to uninstall Photoshop CS using Home 7’s equivalent to the “Add and Remove programs” feature in the control panel, I get a pop-up that says:

It then tells me to:
-Close any running programs
-Empty your temporary folder
-Check your internet connection
All of which I’ve done, to no avail.
I’ve been having an awful time with this new computer and “Permissions” generally – this seems to be yet another mutation of the “permissions” problem between my current Windows 7 Home Premium and all the programs I used to run on Windows XP.
Has anyone found a fix for this problem? I did find a similar thread on this forum, but was not able to apply anything to my specific problem. Thank you.
You can actually remove Adobe without reformatting or reverting back to factory settings.
Download revo uninstaller and remove all instances of adobe from the registry.

If its a very new computer you can just run a system restore, if that fails run a factory restore.
system restore will restore your machine to the time before you installed photoshop.
factory restore to the day you bought the machine.
you should use updated programs in win 7, many older xp proggies will fail.
you could also run these programs in a virtual machine..or under compatability mode
