  1. Search the web for info about Wininit.exe

    E.g.

    Wininit.exe file information
    http://www.file.net/process/wininit…

    Excerpts:

The process known as Windows Start-Up Application or Windows-Startanwendung belongs to software Microsoft Windows Operating System or Betriebssystem Microsoft Windows by Microsoft (www.microsoft.com).

Description: wininit.exe is located in the folder C:\Windows\System32. Known file sizes on Windows 7/XP are 96,256 bytes (37% of all occurrences), 96,768 bytes and 6 more variants.
Wininit.exe is a Windows system file. The program has no visible window. Wininit.exe is a trustworthy file from Microsoft. wininit.exe is able to record inputs and manipulate other programs. Therefore the technical security rating is 5% dangerous, however also read the users reviews.

    Etc.
    ………..

Most malware these days is NOT a virus – it’s something else.

Anything can be infected by malware, but usually ANY file that is a standard Microsoft file HAS NOT been infected.

Do a full scan with whatever anti-malware program you have installed.
If you don’t have any anti-malware software installed , install one !
E.g. the free version of AVG 2012.

(Vista and Windows 7 has Microsoft’s Windows Defender anti-spyware software built into it.)

As an extra step, download the free version of Malwarebytes, install it, and run a Full scan with it – it will find some types of malware that other major anti-malware software can’t t find, or can find but can’t remove properly.
