5 Long Beeps 1 Short Beep

  • 6

Hello I am getting 5 long beeps and 1 short beep. Has anyone had this happen?

well at startup i would hear 5 long beeps and 1 short, however now i only hear continuous long beeps. I have read info about making sure RAM is sitting correctly and making sure no dust is around and i have already done this….

well what i did last was remove the processor then turn on the pc and the beeps stopped. i know i shouldnt do this: but i turned on the computer with only the processor in , no fan, and it booted up…i put fan back and it does the continuous beeps. i am coming to the conclusion that its a processor error….pls help…hpe i put enough info this time….

  1. First off, try to return the processor and fan if possible.
DO NOT run the computer without the CPU fan.

Your power supply may be defective.

Disconnect all the cables going to the drives in the computer. Remove all but one stick of memory.
Disconnect any USB devices except the keyboard.

Now try to boot and see if you get any picture. If so, then you need to replace the power supply.

  2. The computer will not run without the processor so that proves nothing.
Possible it could be a series of 1 long beeps? That would indicate a RAM problem. Remove all RAM and boot with processor in place. Post the error then. Also, do you getting any video?

You need to give some history to put this into some context.
