3 RAM Sticks With 4 Slots?

I ordered some G.Skill 6 GB (3 x 2 GB) DDR3 1600 mhz RAM and a AMD motherboard with 4 slots. I am planning to run Phenom ii x6 3.2 ghz on it.

My friend says its bad to run 3 sticks of ram. Is this true?

      No it’s not bad, but what he means is by running 2 sticks, you can use dual channel mode on the mobo. What’s the model of the mobo, maybe it’s capable of running triple channel, which would be better yet.
