I have been running MS Money 2004 Small Business for most of this year. I recently had to do a Repair install of XP Pro, but just today tried using Money. I get a message: You must have administrator rights to install Money 2004.

I HAVE admin rights, as the Administrator. However, no matter what I have tried, including creating a new account with administrator rights, I get that same message. I uninstalled the program and even did a NEW repair install today, with no change. Does anyone have any idea how I can get Money up and running again?

Thank you.

A positive attitude won't solve all your problems, but it will annoy just enough people to be worth the effort.

If you have multiple accounts some of your Permissions may have been lost during repair. Try Safe Mode as ADMIN and restore permissions for the affected Account.

Try this, it's an excerpt from Major Geeks forum on a different problem involving
missing Shared Documents Folder but the basics look like it should work.

Start computer in SAFE mode (F8)
Log into Administrator account
Browse to My Computer -> C: -> Documents and Settings
Right click on affected account
Select Properties
Select the Security tab
Click on Advanced
Highlight Administrators
Check only "Replace permissions..."
Click on Apply
Click on OK
Exit out and reboot normally

This looks like it should restore previous User Permissions.

There is nothing to learn from someone who already agrees with you.
