XP Virus/Boot Problem

Specs: Windows XP
Apparently I had a virus on my computer. I ran my WebRoot anti-virus and it found the virus and quarantened (sorry for spelling). After doing this, I got a message to update my windows. i clicked ok and was told to reboot computer. After rebooting my computer got stuck on admin password screen. Wife took to Best Buy and they said it was a virus problem and wanted over $200 to fix. I tried booting in Safe mode, but it still hangs up at the admin password screen. My son got into the BIOS and it says the password feature is disabled. Can anyone please help me to fix this so I am not out $200+? Please?

There are a few ways to access admin. Either you can hack it to get the old password or you can simply reset it to blank(nothing). Ophcrak live, Astrumi, loginrecovery, john and many others can help.

Before you try that on the admin login you might try control alt delete keys and then escape key. It sometimes brings you back to the users. Second is to type the user you want in if you can.

Worse comes to work get a linux Mint 8 live cd and boot to it to recover your files then reload the whole enchilada.
