Hi everybody, i have an old laptop i want to give to my niece, but the HDd is defective, now i got a new hdd, but the laptop has no optical drive or floppy, it used to come with a multibay(expansion) where the optical drive was positioned. but that one broke down long ago and was to expensive to replace..
So how can i install xp on this new drive.

An easy way would be to borrow a usb cd/dvd if it is supported in bios as a boot device.

Otherwise you need a way to boot it. Things left or pcmcia, usb, pxe and docking port maybe.

All slightly complex.

Might just fork out $250 for a netbook and save some time.

"Best Practices", Event viewer, host file, perfmon, antivirus, anti-spyware, Live CD's, backups, are in my top 10
