Memory and disk space are two different things. Since AOL didn't download all the way, it would not have installed or altered anything so it isn't the cause of your issues. What type of disk cleanup did you do? Did you delete anything manually and if so, what?

I would forget about the aol software as it causes lots of damge to PC registries.
Use winsockfix
to repair your internet connection as obviously aol has corrupted it and also open IE, click on tools/internet options/connections/lan settings and uncheck use proxy server.
Then try getting online.

Be sure to totally uninstall the aol software.
