won;t let me choose boot type

February 5, 2011 at 12:57:33
Specs: Windows XP, 2gb
When I boot from CD it lets me press any button, but then won;t let me choose how to boot. Last correct boot/ safe mode/ from cd. like keyboard suddenly becomes unresponsive.

I am trying to boot from a cd to repair boot file, windows loads but then i just get a blank blue screen with mouse on it, even in safe mode.

When booting a cd/dvd you have no choice of booting as you would if booting the hard drive so that part of your post is confusing.

Are you following a how to concerning getting into recovery console [which is what you are to do first]

What boot file do you think needs repair?

If you are getting to a blank blue screen with mouse you have registry/file/drive issues not a boot issue.

Your first step is to get into recovery console. You are booting your xp cd right?

cd rom set in the bios as first boot device?

you were right it still freezes right after the welcome screen even in safe mode. Boot wasn't the problem, thought it would be because it was before, i don;t know what to do now
