Wireless adapter can't connect to Internet

Specs: Windows XP
Can't connect to the web. My 3 other pc's connect ok. The wireless network shows connected. When I try to do "ipconfig /release" I get the message "the operation failed as no adapter is in a state permissible for this operation"

You WiFi is disabled. Find the Wireless Button on your keyboard and turn it back on or goto the control panel -> network connections and right-click the Wireless Adapator and select Enable.

It shows enabled & am now getting an IP address conflict. In IPCONFIG shows shows only 0.0.0.0 in the ip ad & sub mask fields, nothing else. A Ipconfig /release and renew get the error I first wrote about.

Your Winsock is probably corrupted. I hope you are comfortable following this M$ solution/workaround at the link below,.

Make sure your router's DHCP setting is configured to assign enough IPs to your computers, if not will cause IP conflict problem. You can also take a look on this wireless network troubleshooting article to locate other root cause. Hope this helps.
