The Product Key for the Windows version,Home or Pro, that was originally installed on the laptop is probably on the official Microsoft label on the bottom of the laptop.

The bios, or any password set in the bios, has nothing to do with the operating system on the hard drive.

" everytime i plug my lapton on, windows is trying to find the original cd to continue istallation any other wincd doesnt fix it.!!!"

In that case there is nothing wrong with the computer's bios.

You can't use an XP Re-installation CD that came with a brand name computer to install Windows unless your brand and model is the same.

how stupid of microsoft! but that is how they make their money, use genuine windows, and do not start to install if you havent the right numbers! (odd, i havebeen install many times xp on to my desktop machine, and they have work every time, even if something similiar happends) next i must try win 7, because even linux install didnt remove the xp poke.
