Specs: Windows XP
My NTLDR was missing so I tryed a repair. I did that and it said it needed to reboot to finish the job, when it did I thought it would delete the stuff on there. I waited for a while and now it wont go back to that screen.
I try to repair, it does the first part but when it retarts, the screen is black at the part where it should start the second process, anything I can do ?

"I thought it would delete the stuff on there"

Delete what? A repair install deletes nothing.

"the screen is black at the part where it should start the second process"

is there a flashing cursor in the upper left corner?

I would suggest you start by downloading the drive manufacturers diagnotic utilities and run them to check the state of the drive.

By the way, there is no flashing cursor at the top left, but it is there in the middle of the screen and it can be moved around.

There is a diagnostics menu, and a list of options.

Test All devices
Test one Device
Advanced Testing
Information and Results
Program options
device configuration

Which is one should I do?

You need the dell xp cd that came with the system or see if you have a recovery partition on the drive. If you use the recovery partition you will restore to factory defaults and lose all of your data.

You could start by going to dells web site and under support lookup your dell model and see what dell recommends.

I have no idea what you mean by you did a repair. I assumed you did a repair install of xp.

You would test the hard drive from the diagnostics menu.
