Does the disk show up in Disk Management. If so is it partitioned and formatted in a way Windows can recognise.

In other words, is the disk still formatted for Ubuntu which windows will not recognise.

When you reformatted did you disconnect the second drive first? If not did you delete any partitions? If you did not disconnect the drive you may have lost the data on the second drive.

Windows XP Pro SP3
Desktop HP Pavilion p6533w
AMD Dual Core 3.0
Windows 7 Home Premium
Server Windows XP Pro SP3

Does what and what are you trying to rename.

If the disk shows up in disk management just delete any existing partitions and recreate a new one and reformat it.
