Solved Windows XP taskbar partial disappearance

September 22, 2012 at 10:19:24
Specs: Windows XP, Pentium 4 256 RAM
When my PC is booted up, or is returned to desktop, the task bar (set wide, at foot of page) shows as expected. When accessing home page, e mail or do general browsing, the task bar disappears.
It means I cannot super-impose another window, check the time as I am working, alter sound volume, etc.
Does anyone know why this is happening, please? The problem is recent.System restore was of no use.Thanks.

You probably have the taskbar set to "auto hide".
Right-click the Start button and choose "Properties".
Click the "Taskbar" tab.
UNtick "auto hide taskbar".
Click 'OK'

Also, make sure "Keep the taskbar on top" is ticked before hitting OK.

Hi Phil22 and Razor2.3.
I was puzzled because I already had already made sure that the tick box was not set to hide the Task Bar.
Clicking "Keep the Task Bar on top" has worked, as it is now present on all ensuing pages, thank goodness!

Thank you both for your input.
