Solved windows xp shut down problem

Specs: Windows XP, 512MB
Hi,

It's me again, I managed to install Windows XP on my friend's dell laptop now, but I have a problem and it's when shutting down or restarting XP.

It shuts down, but stays still on the desktop picture and doesn't go further to do things like (saving your ... and etc).

I have tried to change the value in Registry and force to shutdown, but still it goes off and stays on the desktop picture and won't go further.

Any help? Thanks in advance.

Regards.

✔ Best Answer
Mostly one of the running processes is blocking windows from shutting down.
Use TaskManager and first stop processes, that obviously do not belong to the windows system, one by one and try to shutdown windows again after each killed process.

So you can figure out, what causes your issue.

Hi,

Thanks for the quick reply. It was a driver issue and I re-install it and it's now fixed.

Thanks again.
