You didn't say which version, but updating to the latest version should fix it.
Latest version for XP is IE8. Get it here: http://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/down...

Have you been moving files around or deleting them?

If you search for the file iexplore.exe that is probably what it is looking for. It should be in "Program Files > Microsoft Internet Explorer" together with a lot of other Internet Explorer files.

The suggested update might fix it but there could be issues if the original files have been moved elsewhere.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

Another way, try Tweaking.com - Windows Repair, check > Repair Internet Explorer
http://www.softpedia.com/get/Tweak/...
http://www.softpedia.com/progScreen...
http://www.tweaking.com/

Malware and installed programs can modify your default settings. Tweaking.com - Windows Repair is the tool you need to restore Windows original settings.

Your going to need some sort of browser to download anything. Grab a thumbdrive, go to a working computer and download the portable version of Firefox. The. Stick the drive in your computer launch Firefox and download IE.

That is what everyone is doing.
