Windows XP was already installed on my pc when i bought it and no disk came with the machine. After downloading the Windows updates my pc is now wrecked - One of the files was corrupt and now I cannot get any further than the black screen.I understand that I need the install/recovery disk, but where do I get it from?Any suggestions?

That is what you say above. Sure you have XP ??

You get such disks from whomever made your computer.

some models do not use recovery discs but use a recovery partition that is hidden on your harddrive. Go to the manufacturer's website and look under downloads in the support area for your model...the manual should be downloaded as a readable PDF file and will give you explicit instructions on how to recover you computer using the recovery partition...if you have one...if not then order the CD's from there.
