My advice: Use ERD COMMANDER software and boot the
system trough this program. Than you will be able to manage
userr acc and all other issues!

Take it back to work and have your IT people add it back onto the Domain.

Hi I've read many posts similar to this where people say 'if you do not have the local Admin password you are stuffed.' Unfortunately I've also changed my girlfriend's laptop from domain to workgroup without understanding what the impact would be, but after using the above mentioned ERD Commander I do now have the local Admin password and can log in using that account. This does resolve the issue for the most part as we can see all her docs & music in the documents & settings folder so it's not the end of the world - but I'm wondering if because I do have local Admin access rights if I can't fix this up properly?

I tried going back and restoring the domain name as it was before, but it gives an error saying a domain controller could not be contacted. The laptop in question is actually a very old work one, and it's my girlfriend's to keep - she now has a new work laptop from the same company. So I'm wondering, surely there will be some settings on the new laptop I could copy to the old laptop using the Admin account that would let me restore the domain and allow her to log on as she used to. Can anyone please advise if this is possible?
