Windows XP font size problem

Specs: Windows XP, intel
I had my PC wiped and reloaded with win XP. In the process of restoring backups, I noticed the basic text size of the screen was tiny. I used the appearance adjustments, but that did not change the size of text on information windows. This also affects web sites. The text is displayed as tiny.

One application in the Control menu gives me a way to adjust text size from 96 to 128 dpi or set a custom size. However, it requires the Windows XP home edition disk -- which I do not have as my system was factory loaded.

The last time I had the system wiped and reloaded (damn viruses) I didn't have this problem.

Rik0001, SWAG (not positive, working from memory), seems I recall that you can set your default font and font size under IE properties.
