Specs: Windows XP
I left computer on, when I returned all my desktop icons were gone leaving only the sky an grass on the screen. Could not turn it off, Ctrl-Alt-Delete did nothing, when unplugged & replugged backin it just pops on and goes right off....

At what point does it turn off? Do you get to the Windows Splash Screen or does it turn off on POST?

I get no screen display at all. Upon pluging in the power, I get a popping, the power light comes on and goes out immediately.

It sounds like a power supply problem.

It's better to leave Windows XP and just upgrade your laptop. It's much better. Besides, Windows XP is way better then Windows Me.
