Windows XP crashes at startup on the splash screen. The Windows icon fades in a little bit, but then my computer crashes and I get a BSOD with the stop code:
"*** stop: 0x000000F4 (0x0000003, 0x86188020, 0x86188194, 0x8060577E)"
I cannot start up my computer under any mode (Safe mode, VGA mode, last good configuration, normally, etc.)
Is my hard drive completely screwed or is there some way I can fix this and/or get all my files off of it?
Best to install Windows to another hard drive and then try copying the files off the original one.
Did you make any changes to hard disk drive setup/configuration? http://support.microsoft.com/kb/330100

The stop error most likely indicates a hardware problem. Look at the link below for some ideas.
I didn't make any changes to my hard disk/drive setup, and my preferences on my computer have been the same for the longest time. For some time though, I've been getting crashes on my computer, but never at startup. I believe my hard disk is failing. If so, is there any way I can get the majority of my files off of it?
