The operating system on the hard drive has nothing to do with a password that was set in the bios on a laptop.

If the only password you don't know is the one to access the bios Setup, and if your problem is you can't boot from a bootable CD or DVD because of the way Boot Order or similar settings are set in Setup, on nearly all laptops there is a line shown on the screen while booting "Press xxx to change boot device" or similar. Press that key and choose to boot from a CD or DVD.

If you have a password you must know to use the computer at all, or a password you must know to access the hard drive, that's a different matter.
