Solved Windows won't open

Specs: Windows XP Pro, appx 72,000 mb
Windows won't open past the first page.I have made it to the recovery directory,with another windows disc to open that, and noticed NTFS is disabled, as is Fat. How do I know which to change or leave as is?
Also,I was on a 30 day trial with AVG, but it expired. Did it let loose a virus? Also, I don't have the disc for my newer Acer monitor,AL2016W, and is says there may be a problem later. What can I do? It was running OK for a while.

Try to use the repair feature when you boot to a windows xp cd. If pro you need a pro cd. If home you need a home cd. Best if same level.

don't play with file format.

1/3 of highway deaths are caused by drunks. The rest are by people who can't drive any better than a drunk.

Thanks. I've done all I can do, so it's back to the shop it goes! Re-formatting all is the answer.Good info though.
