Windows starting directly into desktop

Specs: Windows XP, 1.5 gig
Hi everyone....

I just had a new hard drive installed ( old one died) and now I am in the process of reinstalling my programs.
On my old hard drive whenever the system booted up it went to the welcome screen with the option to click on which user to select, without asking for a password.
Now, with the new drive, it boots up directly into my desktop. Under control panel for user accounts it is already selected to log in automatically without password.
My question... how do I have the computer boot to the welcome screen with the users icons and not asking for a password?
DSO I go under run..enter "control userpasswords2" ? If so, how do I configure it?
thank you
