Specs: Windows XP SP3 Home Edition
My sound works fine but the Windows program event sounds list is shrinking. I can no longer assign a sound to "Windows Open" (for example) because it's simply does not appear on the list of program events. Where is this list stored? Is there a way to refresh the list?
Thanks,
Ken

The "Product" field in my post does not show what I have and I can't seem to change it. I have Windows XP Home Edition with service Pack 3.

Go to the link below line 6 (left column) and right click and use Save Target As on "Restore System Default Sounds" which is a reg file fix and save it to your hard drive. Double click it and answer yes to the import prompt.

More info if you click the "?" to the left of "Where did my Sounds go?" to expand it at the link below.

Ken, I'm curious as to whether any of the fixes corrected your problem and if so which fix did you use?

Yes. The fix you suggested, on line 6 of the 'Tweaks' worked perfectly.
Thanks again,
Ken
