Windows opens separate folders

Specs: windows XP, 2 GB
In "folder options" (tools-->folder options), in the "browse" setting, I select "Open each folder in the same window". However, a separate folder opens up all the time. It does not matter what profile I log into, so I know it's not a profile problem. Does anyone kknow how I can permanently set this?

Try "Restore Defaults" in that same window.

After you change the folder options as you want then click on the View tab and choose to apply to all folders.

A reboot may be necessary after that.

Do you mean a new window opens, not a separate folder opens ???

chase817, If all else fails go to the link below and scroll down to line 209 (right column) and click on the underscored word "Same" in the "Open Each Folder in New or Same Window" line to download a reg file fix. Save the REG File to your hard disk. Double click it and answer yes to the import prompt.
