windows not booting up

Specs: Windows XP
hay guys...i have xp 32bit and yesterday my friend kicked it...and from that time ...when ever windows is loading up i am getting the message that there is a hardware problem...and choose the way u want to load windows...like safe mode..start windows normally...when i choose that and start it then some times it gets loaded up till windows logo and after that i see a blank screen...when i restart the pc again its getting loaded up...and so any ideas plz let me know ...thanks in advance ....

vinayak101, "yesterday my friend kicked it". What does that mean? Upgrade? New OS completely? Like my cat who's always underfoot? Explain please. Sorta hard to suggest anything until the problem is clear.

kicked means ..after i start my pc the old hard drive always makes a grinding noise when its running so in order to reduce that ...normally i slap my cpu...yesterday...he slapped it bit strongly...and now i am getting this issue ....
