Recently I have been having a problem with Windows Media Player 11. I notice that when I open a MP3 file from my Music folder that nothing happens. The red hard drive thinking light on my computer is on a constant red and isn't blinking at all. So I decided to check Windows Task Manager and saw that wmplayer.exe was running at 80k under Mem Usage, wmplayer.exe usually runs at 5000k or more. I noticed when opening other programs and such that they open slower and seem to be slower. I can open WAV and other audio files perfectly fine. I also found out that if I first open WMP from the Start Menu and open WMP first and then click the MP3 file that it runs fine. I have tried more than one MP3 song and the same thing happens. I have rolled WMP back to WMP10 and even WMP9 still the same result. I am coming to conclusion that it has something to do with the Registry with WMP11 or maybe WMP has something messed up with MP3 files/icons.
Thanks for the replies and help when I get them!
For a test i tried iTunes to open the mp3 files and it worked just fine, so i have come to a conclusion its a WMP problem i suppose..

didnt work :(
I must tell you the truth
Every computer I have owned I have un-installed WMP, and replaced it with the much better (in my opinion) Free VLC Media Player: http://www.videolan.org/vlc/downloa...But if you want to keep trying
Try uninstalling it fully
Restart
And install the most up to date WMP at MS
