What does the window say? It is probably a virus if it will not go
away, try downloading malwarebytes (malwarebytes.org), and
running a scan. Also, what antivirus are you using at the
moment?

Are you referring to the Windows logon box?

How do you possibly expect to log into YOUR profile without a log-in box? How do you think Windows knows who you are?

I have always done it this way. I turn on my pc, after the windowsxp logo spins a couple times (loading), my name next to my icon (from the user accts folder) appears , as does my roommates name and icon.
I then would click on my name and proceed to MY desktop.
Just like that. No username/password logon box . Simple and clean.
Can anyone help me? Thanks

Open Control Panel and click on User Accounts. Then click "change the way users log on and off" and make sure "Use the Welcome Screen" is checked.
