|Agere make modems & network adapters so I suspect it's some software linked to a dial-up modem you may/may not have installed. First thing to try is click 'start', then 'run' and type 'msconfig' (without the ' 's) and press 'ok'. In the window that opens, click the startup tab & look down the list for anything mentioning 'Agere' - remove the tick from the appropriate box. Click ok & restart the system. If the problem goes away then go to Control panel/add/remove programs and remove the Agere program. Restart, & you may see the 'found new hardware' wizard - let the system find the driver & hopefully it will insrtall without the problematic software. |
