Hi obsolete, I have the same HP 8000 ELITE small form factor system and also getting the BSOD when running the XP x64 setup, modified with nLite 1.4.9.1. HP has all the drivers, but finding the correct ones, there are so may choices, to get past BSOD is extremely hard. I am trying to ressurect some legacy software that can only run on systems up through Vista, so any guidance getting the correct ones would be awesome!
The problem is almost certainly the SATA drive, which XP doesn't recognize. You need to load the appropriate SATA driver at install time. It is very rare for software that runs on XP doesn't run, with the appropriate compatibility settings, on later versions of Windows. Running XP in a virtual machine is one option.
I suggest you avoid installing XP 64-bit, however, HP has all the drivers you need. If you know your system specs, it shouldn't be difficult to determine which ones to get. https://support.hp.com/us-en/driver...

Thanks ijack! I did finally manage to get the right ACHI SATA driver into the install, it was tricky to identify the correct one. The software has low level drivers (GSIF) and will not run on anything after Vista, there are allot of posts about folks trying to get it to run on Win7, but I haven't seen any success stories. I wish compatibility mode was a possible solution. Thanks for your post!
Thanks riider! I did finally get the XP x64 driver going! The software was retired in 2008 and had just gone 64 bit via XP x64, so that is why I am rolling up my sleeves to get the system up and running. Onto the next barrier!
