Win XP Pro won't load

November 1, 2011 at 12:30:14
Specs: Windows XP
I was changing motherboards these days because of hardware problems, now I'm using my original Epox 9NPA+ after working for some time on MSI K8N Diamond. I tried uninstalling the motherboard drivers for MSI, since now I am using the Epox again, but when I did that and rebooted - my Win XP crashed and it won't load the desktop. It only loads the boot screen with the loading bar and logo and after that it's a black screen.

I tried everything, but the best I could do was to boot a Mini XP from a boot CD and that's how I got here.
I have a Hiren's boot CD and I see there are a lot of tools and options it offers, but could anything help me? I guess some file of my XP crashed and is corrupted, can I fix it using this Hiren CD?!

What are my options, is there any way I can run my win normally again?

I am dying here, please help!

If xp won't load then I'd assume some hardware or firmware issue. Start with memtest and hard drive diags.

1/3 of highway deaths are caused by drunks. The rest are by people who can't drive any better than a drunk.

Everything was working perfectly until I uninstalled nvidia drivers for the MSI chipset and then the problem occured. My best guess is that it's a corrupted windows file, also as you can see, the PC is working fine when I boot win from CD.

And last but not least - my Epox has a display on it which now shows that everything is fine with the hardware.

Is there some tool of Hiren's CD that can help me recover the windows sys files?

It has to be able to boot to XP cd if you have the drivers available or slipstreamed.

Then you can fix it using the repair feature. You can use any xp disk if you want to for a repair. Use a sp3 disk.
