Will Bitlord 2.4.1 work on Win XP

August 28, 2016 at 12:10:07
Specs: Windows XP
Will Bitlord 2.4.1 work on windows XP or do I need an older version of Bitlord for Windows XP? I had an older Bitlord version on my PC but got an update notice for a newer version. I updated and then Bitlord no longer worked. I was not notified of any isues when it was updating my PC with the latest version. If I have to use older version, where can I find it?

According to this BitLord 2.4.4.311 will work on XP:
http://en.freedownloadmanager.org/W...

Version 2.4.1 should therefore work but I found this old version (1.01) if you should need it.

Using BitLord or any other file sharing or Torrents type program on XP is very risky as it hasn't had security updates for over two years.

Thanks for the reply. I tried downloading it but now my McAfee virus software is blocking it because it says it is a trojan threat. I guess I am not meant to have bitlord

Could be an infected website or download - it happens I'm afraid. Maybe another source would work. Do a Google search.

Google'd it and found website that did not upset my McAfee software. Did the download but now I get a dialog box saying: C:\Program Files\Bitlord.exe is not a valid Win32 application

That is a very broad error message - kinda means something is wrong but it could be any number of things. I think it would be a good idea to run these three freebies in the order given as a quick Malware check before we go any further. They often find what Anti-Virus programs miss:

AdwCleaner:
https://toolslib.net/downloads/view...
(blue "Download Now" button on right).
Download and "Save" the file somewhere. Go to the saved file then double click it to run the program. Use the "Scan" button, followed by the "Clean" button.

Junkware Removal Tool (JRT)
https://www.malwarebytes.org/junkwa...
(blue Download button).
Download and "Save" the file somewhere. Go to the saved file then double click it to run JRT. It might appear to have stopped at times or flash the screen but sit tight until it has finished.

MalwareBytes:
https://www.malwarebytes.org/
(use the "download" button rather than the "buy" button).
Install and Run the program but before running the Scan go to "Settings > Detection and Protection" and put a checkmark in "Scan for rootkits". Quarantine anything it finds.

Please copy/paste the logs on here.

This is what the Malware Bytes found. I have not done anything with the list yet as I don't see a quarantine option. There is just a blue dialog box saying "Remove Selected"

#6 shows PUPs (Potentially Unwanted Programs). These are often foisted on you (or pre-checked) when installing something else. I would remove them unless there is anything there that you really want/need.

I'm in the UK and it's 2.30am here so way past bedtime. Pick you up sometime tomorrow.

Get rid of BitLord, get rid of McAfee. Install BitDefender Free Edition & uTorrent.

I downloaded Utorrent and that works very well (better than BitLord). I am keeping McAfee as I get it for free from my internet provider. I truly thank you for all your assistance. Have a GREAT week
