There could be many reasons for this. Sometimes when an antivirus won't install it is due to a virus existing on the computer (trying to prevent itself from being detected).

For a start run this freebie and see what it finds:
It often finds and fixes what AV's can miss.

I would also run this and use the Delete button:
Unwanted toolbars can cause all sorts of issues.

After that, if you still have the CD/DVD issues we can focus on that.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

So does your PC 'mini crash' every time you try to use a cd or dvd? If so it may be a problem with the dvd drive.

After a mini-crash, are there any errors in event viewer?

Start > run > eventvwr

Or what you can do, is disable automatic restart on system failures. After saving your changes & rebooting, attempt to use the CD/DVD drive and give us the error that you get. If its a blue screen, please include the stop:0x0 error (and anything above it)

Click 'Start'
Click on 'Run'
Type in "sysdm.cpl" (without the quotes) and press Enter
Click on the 'Advanced' tab
Click on the 'Startup and Recovery' Settings button
Uncheck 'Automatically restart', then click on OK
Click on OK to exit the System applet, then close the Control Panel.
Reboot for the changes to take effect
