Why my PC couldn't recognize the blank CD-R?

Specs: Windows XP, 512 MB T/M DDR2 RAM
Hi... My internal CD/DVD-R/RW has been having some trouble when recognizing blank CD-R.

After buying and installing the CD/DVD-R/RW I had burnt some CDs, but lately it has been very annoying and just will not work.

I can burn DVD's just fine, and the drive is reading everything just fine, it just doesn't recognize blank CD media.

I'm very frustrated with my problem...

I'm running WinXP SP2. Please give me some solutions.

Arifatun Nahar, possible you need to format the blank first? I know that I must do that using +R rewritable disks to record my favorite TV shows on a DVR Recorder. Same deal?

This sounds ridiculously simple, but I tried everything all the posts said after much research, and nothing fixed it. So I got an alcohol wipe (used for cleaning eyeglasses) and wiped the optical eye in the drive, and it worked! Might want to try that before you go to any more expense.
