why is my laptop restarting itself when away

November 21, 2010 at 05:14:27
Specs: Windows XP Home edition, 1.24GB RAM
At home on my wireless network it is fine but when I turn it on outside of the range of my network, during Start Up it keeps re-starting as it gets to my desktop page and a 'Network Adaptor' message appears and goes off so fast I cannot read it. I have tried Safe Mode and System Restore but to no avail. Ideas please?
Thanks
John

The title and question are not the same issue.

Why did it take me over a year to phone in a problem to ATT?

It sounds like it is seeing the no network as an error. Some systems are setup to restart if an error is encountered. See below to check your system.

You might try disabling the wireless from starting up at boot. You will have to manually start it when inside.
