Why doesn't WMP open in XP when clicked?

Specs: Windows XP Pro
WMP 9 doesn't open when clicked. But it plays mp3 etc.but not movies. This is a sudden development. Audio is working but not the video. As such cannot switch off. When you click on a movie the sound starts and goes on without the video. How to resolve it?

just go conrol pannel and repair it
otherwise re-install the WMP player , i think this is not a matter, now a days so many players availble which is better than WMP

may be the video format is not supporting your WMP

You may need to use Quicktime to play mov files. (Assuming you're not referring to a DVD movie of course.)
