why does my pc think my sound card is a print

Specs: Windows XP
i have installd a realtek 7.1 hd sound card yet my pc running xp does not recognise it as a sound card but a printer. even wwhen i remove the card it wants to run a hardware set up for a printer.

Then it would seem the sound card has nothing to do with it. For HD audio, you need to have SP3 installed. If you have SP1 or SP2, you need to install the Microsoft Universal Audio Architecture (UAA) HD driver. And of course, you'll also need the Realtek driver.

Do you have a printer installed? Does it work?
