Is the blue screen a slate blue screen or is it a royal to deep blue? If it is at least a royal blue hue, this is called a Blue Screen of Death or BSOD. These indicate that Windows has found a problem with your computer, and shut down the system to prevent any damage to it--which is, by the way, what most BSODs will comment out. BSODs are similar to kernel panics which exist on Unix-like systems, including Linux and OS X.

This usually indicates a problem with hardware or internal software issues. Note the hex code and the information that the BSOD displays, if this is truly the case, if I'm guessing correctly from your description. You can find an answer based on the info you post from that screen. :)
