Get a new "Office" suite

It's free and supposed to be compatible with Msoft office.

In a pinch you can use Google Docs online, or WordPad and save to .rtf, or older versions of Word are cheap. OpenOffice.org is very good, but it's a large download.

Microsoft Works Word Processor can be removed in Add and Remove Programs in the Control Panel.
Before you remove it find the location on your computer were it can be reinstalled. I have Windows 7 HP and Windows XP eMachine and both
have a location to reinstall. All Programs - Recovery Manager for HP
All Programs - System recovery - Applications and Drivers.

I would want to know why it was corrupted. Have you run and Anti Virus
and Malewarebyte. Also CCleaner.
If works was corrupted just lately maybe a system restore to an earlier date before the trouble started.
Start - All Programs - System Tools - System restore.

Some versions of Works (which you so helpfully declined to divulge) have a number-of-installed-fonts limit or else Works will not open. Have you checked that?

Wouldn't hurt to trim down the number of fonts anyway... good designers don't need many.
