Why does auto update remove drives?

March 9, 2011 at 07:36:13
Specs: Windows XP
Twice recently Windows automatic updates have caused virtual drives to disappear from my system when viewed with Windows Explorer. Fortunately I have been able to use system restore to recover them. Does anyone know why this is happening and how to prevent it in the future?

Are you running your Windows in a Virtual Machine and if so which one?

If you have Windows XP with Media Manager 2005, you will have virtual drives--as media manager is installed on one and the OS on the other, etc.
