Why do I have to type www after IE7 upgrade?

January 18, 2010 at 05:43:46
Specs: Windows XP
I recently upgraded to IE 7 and I hate it for many reasons, including the fact that now I have to type "www" in the address bar each time or I will get the response that "Windows cannot find..." etc. Is there a simple adjustment I can make so I don't need to type those three letters? In IE 6, I never had to. I know many of you will suggest I use firefox (and I will), but for now, please advise. Thank you.

I think what began with IE7 is that there are options to search from the address bar. If you type www, then it goes to the page but if you do not, it tries to do a search for what you type. Look under options to see if you can disable 'search from address bar' since that is where I think the change was made. (I never noticed the change since I always type the www --- very old habit)
