why do i have a dual boot prompt

Specs: Windows XP
i recently upgraded from win98se to xp pro, now i am asked which program i would like to start,xp or win explorer. why? and also my systeminfo tells me that i only have a 4 gig hard drive when its actually 10 gig. how can i recover the missing space on my hard drive?

whatever you did resulted in a multiboot of both win98 and xp. Do both work?

Do a chkdsk on your drive and post the results for review

i am not sure if both but i do know that the xp program works. how do i do a chkdsk?
