when using IE AT&T will jump in and say page is not availab

Specs: Windows XP
I have got AT&T u-verse as my internet provider
and I search mainly with I.E 8 and occasionally AT&T will interupt my search with "this page is unavailable" and advise me to go to AT&T site, this happens on various sites most notably Amazon can anyone explain the reason for this and is it possible to turn AT&t off I am not computer literate so please provide any answers in simple terms

It would probably be best to ask AT&T. They would know more then we do.

Thanks for the reply, I was hoping that I could turn something off or reconfigure as I have an aversion to calling AT&T and waiting for an interminable time for them to answer especially as I do not have a land line and usually find that my cell phone battery expires before we can complete the fix !!

You could always download Skype and call them from your computer.
