I have just got a new monitor but my hard drive is old and every time I switch both on, it says in power saver mode and says out of range with an H and a V and a number next to them and then just switches off altogether! Help
It means that your monitor cannot support the resolution that the display card is set to. Start XP in VGA mode (press F8 just as Windows is starting and you will get a menu with this option) and then adjust the display properties ( http://www.microsoft.com/resources/... ) to a value that your monitor supports. The change dialog allows you to test the change before committing it so that you can be sure the system will work with the new setting. If not it reverts to the old setting.
