weird video chopping issue

Specs: Windows XP, enuf

I was just infected with a virus called xp police, which i have been able to successfully remove. Thsi virus affected my ability to view the task manager, control panel and computer slow down.

After the removal everything has gone back to normal with the exception of internet actiivty. Browsing sites with large amounts of media and graphics can become grueling. Youtube, engadget and the like are really bad. But most text of simple sites are unaffected. I have plenty of available resources. I know i could prob just wipe the hard drive and start fresh but anyone who has ever done that knows that it isn't fun setting everything up all over again. (and i'm a tech) I just can't seem to figure out what else i can do to correct the problem. I have all anti-virus, spyware, registry cleaner apps up to date and completed. Anything i am missing? Wiping everythnig is my last resort but i wanted to get some advice from some other users before this step. Thanks for your help.

The first thing I would try is deleting the Temporary Internet Files. If that helps, I suggest lowering the 'Amount of disk space to use' for them. I use 64MB.

Thanks for your reply.

I use firefox, which is set to delete all cookies, personal data and temporary internet files upon exit of the program. I also use ccleaner to keep the registry as tidy as possible. Any other suggestions? Thanks!

Uninstall/reinstall Firefox?
Try another browser?
