Websites slow to open but not all of the time

Microsoft Outlook 2003 (full product)
January 20, 2011 at 16:20:39
Specs: Windows XP, 992 MB
My websites normally open reasonably fast but there are times during the day when I click-on any of my shortcuts it will take several minutes before the site will open. I use Ad-Aware and have G-Zapper. Sometimes, but not always, I will get a message that Firefox is still running. Any help here?

Is it the website that is taking a while to load at certain times of the week? Or is it the browser itself?

If it is the browser, you may scheduled processes that run at certain intervals (ie., virus and spyware scans, computer restore points...)

If it's the website that is taking too long to load, then it could be your ISP. There are certain times of the day when accessing the internet may take longer due to more people around you signing on. Times include lunch, after school and after work.

Some ISPs will have internet hubs where they may have multiple houses and/or business operating on. Unfortunately, if this is the case, there really isn't anything you can do about it.
